Q. I selected low quality. Why do my images still take so long to upload?
A. When you upload a new image it gets uploaded to our servers just like it is on your computer. The quality is set when you or someone else views the image. If you want your images to upload to our servers faster you may want to scale them down in width and height before you upload them.
Q. How can I upload full size images?
A. You can upload full size images by unchecking the resize button on the image upload page.
Q. How can I make my images upload faster?
A. If your images are large, scale them down in size with an image editing program before you upload them.
Q. How many folders can I have?
A. You can have an unlimitted amount of folders with unlimitted images within a folder. To keep your images as organized as possible try not to put to many images into one folder.
Q. How can I cancel my account?
A. Simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting that you wish to cancel your account and we will take care of that for you.
Q. Why are my emails not being answered by Photeto?
A. They are being answered! It could simply be that your ISP or a local program on your computer is blocking email from Photeto as SPAM, and the emails are not reaching you. This is especially common with AOL, Earthlink, and Verizon users. Make sure that your email settings are not blocking/deleting emails from us! If you are not receiving email from us that you feel that you should be, you can send an AIM or YahooIM to us. We may not answer you immediately (but we will respond very soon, anyway), but this would serve as a guaranteed way of making some contact between yourself and us. Our screen name for both YahooIM and AIM is PhotetoHelp. Drop us a message, and we'll get back to you just as soon as we can!
Q. Why are my images renamed?
A. If your filenames on your images are too long they are shortened when uploading them. If you have already uploaded a file with the same name as the one you are currently uploading we assign a 4 digit number to the beginning of your file so that you don't over-write the file that you uploaded before.
Q. What type of files can I host?
A. You can host JPG and GIF files. If you need support for other file types please contact us and we may be able to add support for them.
Q. Will my name or user id appear in the image URL?
A. No! Once your image is uploaded, our system will assign your image a number and will also include the image name that you called the image on your harddrive. Your user id will not appear in the image URL!
Q. I don't have Paypal, but I still want to join Photeto. What do I do?
A. Simple! On the sign up page, follow the link on how to join using a credit card. If you sign up using your credit card, your account activation will be complete once we bill your credit card, which could take up to 24 hours (usually much less, though).
Q. My images are larger than 500k. What can I do?
A. The best option would be to crop your images, or use an image compression tool. If you do not have access to either of these methods, we do offer an automatic image resizer that you can utilize. When you are ready to upload your images, simply check the box that says 'Resize Images'.
Q. Is it safe to send Photeto my credit card information over the internet?
A. Absolutely! When you click the link to sign up or to send payment via credit card, you will notice that Photeto's URL changes to https (the 's' stands for 'secure'). Also, at the bottom of your web browser, you will notice a little lock icon. This indicates that your information is using SSL with 128 bit encryption to transfer your information across the internet. Your information is safe!
